The city’s ethnography museum has a collection of items which were used by households in rural Poland between the late eighteenth century and the early twentieth century. Perhaps though the most popular element of the museum are the reconstructed outdoor buildings from around Poland which visitors can usually go inside. One of these buildings is a working windmill from Bądkowo, which was constructed there in 1896 and was used by three generations of millers. Other buildings include a water mill, a fire station, farms and numerous homesteads.

There is an audio tour which is available in English, although there is also some basic documentation provided as well and there is sometimes the option of a guided tour. A visit here is likely to last a couple of hours and it’s a pleasant location to meander around even for those not engaged with the contents of the museum itself.

There is an admission charge of 12zl for adults and 7zl for concessions. The museum is open from 10.00 until 16.00 on Tuesdays to Saturdays and is closed on Mondays.
